Welcome to Home Innovation and the Automated Home
Home Innovation - Automated Home Solutions
What is home automation?
Home automation enables you to automatically and remotely control lighting, intruder/fire detection systems, audio, video and much more. It can also give you the ability to monitor and check on loved ones who live on their own (click on the Home Care tab).
And for those who would like to install Control4 Home Automation in an existing home...
Who are we and what do we do?
We are a friendly company based in Redditch, South of Birmingham. Welcome to Home Innovation, one of the longest serving Control4 dealers based in the UK. We supply and install Control4 home automation systems including automated lighting, security, heating, whole of home audio/video, and remote system access. Control4 is an international company and a world leader in the supply of home automation products. With Control4 you can control your home using a hand-held remote control or table-top/in-wall touch screens and keypads. The system can switch your lights on and off while you are away from home, control your security system, control cctv cameras, check statuses of doors and windows, and lots more. The real benefit of a home automation system is that all this can be done from anywhere in the home, or indeed anywhere in the world over the internet.
We will be happy to answer any questions, or simply give advice, regardless of whether you live in a studio flat or a mansion. Have a look around our site and please don't hesitate to call or email if we can be of help to you.
If you are an Electrician or Builder thinking of incorporating this technology into your portfolio please contact us, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss Control4 products and how we could work with you to extend your services.
Systems can either be fully installed as a complete project or, depending on budget, built up over a period of time.
Your system can be programmed to:
- • Help save on energy costs by switching off devices no longer in use, for example, to turn off lights where there has been no movement in a room for a pre-set length of time.
- • Distribute your TV viewing to multiple rooms.
- • Configure your light switches to turn on or off at specific times or over a random period, or your curtains or blinds to open or close depending on the time of day.
- • Schedule your heating to turn on or off in different rooms at specific times and remotely turn heating on, if required, when returning from holiday.
- • Play your favourite music in any or all rooms connected to the system.
- • Make it appear that you are at home while on holiday by automatically turning on specific lights at random times. Open and close curtains and blinds at sunrise and sunset.
- • Enable remote internet access in order to remotely control your lights and security devices from anywhere in the world.
- • Alert you by email or phone notifications whenever your alarm is triggered (depending on the make and model of the security system). Using the internet or mobile phone you can connect to your security cameras and view the scene around your home.
The possibilities are endless! Every person will find their own unique way to incorporate and use the system.
What happens next...
Well, over to you now...just give us a call, or send an email, or use the contact link at the top of the page and we will contact you as soon as possible.
We will be happy to discuss your requirements and offer advice and ideas for you to think about, give you an idea of the costs depending on those requirements and then leave you to think about it. There is no hard sell or badgering, we are neither capable nor inclined to do that, just call us back when you have decided or if you would like to discuss the system further. If you decide that you would like us to carry out an install we will visit you again to gather further, more detailed, requirements.
Installation - what happens?
We are more than happy to work with your own electrician. In fact we prefer to work with your own electrician, this gives you greater control over costs, and to be honest, why would you want us to provide an extra electrician and their costs when you already have one?
We will provide a wiring schedule for the electrician and work with him during the installation, and will be available to answer any questions or queries either from you or your electrican.
The schedule will be ready for the electrician when starting first-fix. We will make ourselves available as and when required while first-fix is in progess, and will be on-site on competion of first-fix to verify that all required cables are installed as requested.
Following plastering and termination of the cables into junction boxes and faceplates we are ready for the system to be installed.
The system generally consists of storing all devices such as the Control4 devices, Sky boxes, amplifiers, DVD player, etc. into an Audio/Visual Rack sited in a centralised location. The size of the rack will be customised to hold the devices needed to fulfil your requirements, with contingency for future expansion.
The system is installed but how does it work?
We will supply you with information and details about each device and will sit with you after installation to teach you how to get the most out of your system. In the first few weeks, when you get used to the system, you will most likely want to make changes to the way it works, that's no problem. Depending on the type of changes, you could possibly make the changes using software supplied by Control4 or you might prefer us to make the changes, particularly if you decide to add further automation, either way is not a problem. If we need to make system changes you won't even have to wait in for us, we can carry out most changes to your system over the internet. Don't worry about security, you will have the option to grant us access to the system at the times you choose. When we have finished you can turn the grant off. This option also allows your system to be kept up to date with new releases of software from Control4.
Now sit back, relax and enjoy...
